To reduce the use of single-use plastic straws, Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) announced on May 8, 2019, the “Restrictions on Single-Use Plastic Straws and Implementation Measures.”
As of July 1, 2019, dine-in services at government agencies, schools, department stores and shopping malls, and fast-food chains are prohibited from providing single-use plastic straws.
However, items that are certified with the “Biodegradable Plastic” Green Mark or are pre-packaged with straws at the factory are excluded from the restriction.
